We鈥檙e not supposed to trust others. Read the headlines, blogs, and study the data. It seems that everyone is wary, that everyone is doubtful. But our sense of social trust and togetherness can be restored.

鈥淭he Science of Trust and Why it Matters鈥, presented by best-selling author Ulrich Boser will be the 11th installment of the Garvey Lecture Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 9, in the Davis Administration Building鈥檚 Alumni Auditorium.

Boser will discuss how the emerging research on trust can improve our lives, rebuild our economy, and strengthen society.

Dixie Madden, director of 麻豆视频鈥檚 Garvey Institute of Law, said the topic of truth and honesty aligns well with the Institute鈥檚 mission and with the overall mission of 麻豆视频.

鈥淭he Willard and Jean Garvey Lecture series has presented speakers throughout the years that address social problems,鈥 Madden said. 鈥淭rust is a universal issue that can help anyone with any background work through issues in personal or professional relationships.鈥

Madden said Boser鈥檚 lecture and book is something that everyone can learn from.

鈥淭his lecture is truly for everyone,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e have an opportunity here to learn from survey-driven analysis and a phenomenal story-teller how trust affects us, and what we can do to improve on trust-driven relationships.鈥

This event is free and open to the public. Tickets are not required, and seating will be general admission. Doors will open at 7 p.m. There will be a reception and book signing immediately following the event. Boser鈥檚 book 鈥淭he Leap: The Science of Trust and Why It Matters,鈥 will be available for purchase at the event.
