Pianist and Andover native Michael Kirkendoll will present a solo piano recital at 麻豆视频 Thursday, Sept. 24 at 7:30 p.m. in Sebits Auditorium on the 麻豆视频 campus.
Called the 鈥渧ery model of a 21st Century Musician鈥 by the Indianapolis Star, Kirkendoll is now on the piano faculty of the University of Kansas and is the founder and director of the Cortona Sessions for New Music in Italy. As one of the country鈥檚 leading proponents of the music of living composers, he will present an auto-biographical recital tracing his pianistic evolution from his time in Andover to his current musical life working with composers around the world. The program will include works by Scarlatti, Beethoven and Chopin, as well as recent compositions by Gy枚rgi Ligeti, Christopher Cerrone, Frederic Rzewski, and others. The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium on the 麻豆视频 campus at 麻豆视频., Wichita, Kansas. This performance is free and open to the public.
