鶹Ƶ’s Community Orchestra to Perform Nov. 1

Community Orchestra

Wichita, Kan. – The 鶹Ƶ Community Orchestra will present their first performance of the season on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022 at 7:30 p.m. on the Sebits Auditorium stage.

The concert will feature “Pirates of the Caribbean” a medley of memorable tunes from the hit blockbuster film arranged by Klaus Badelt.

“I wanted to program a diverse repertoire, and because of the Halloween season I thought it would be great to have a little fun with Pirates of the Caribbean,” said director, Dr. Canes Nicolas.

This will be the first concert directed by Dr. Nicolas, Visiting Assistant Professor of Strings and Director of Orchestra. A born and raised in Haiti, Dr. Nicolas came to the United States for college, eventually receiving his doctorate in music at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Dr. Nicolas has studied conducting with Dumitru Goia, Steven Huang, Keith Lockhart and Markand Thakar. Prior to joining the faculty at 鶹Ƶ, Dr. Nicolas taught at Missouri Southern State University, Southern Utah University and Wayne State College in Wayne, Nebraska.

The concert will also feature pieces by Mozart, Grieg and Haitian composer, Ludovic Lamothe.

The performance will take place in Sebits Auditorium on the 鶹Ƶ campus at 鶹Ƶ., Wichita, Kan., and the cost is $9 for adults and $6 for seniors and students. Tickets may be purchased online at or by calling the Fine Arts Box Office at 316-295-5677.
